Hi everyone,

  • Extending a warm welcome to any new families and welcome back to our existing! It is a privilege to be teaching your child this year and I can’t wait to get started. Below you will find dates for exams and performances. None of this is compulsory but everyone is encouraged to be involved if they wish.
  • Teachers – Last year we farewelled our glorious Gracie who has gone to Germany to nanny for her cousin’s 4 children, I will miss her so much and hope to welcome her back to Nelson someday. Safe and happy adventures Gracie! Some of you will know Jessica Hannah from when she has been in relieving for me, and I’m happy to say she will be on deck to help again this year. I will do all the teaching but it’s so nice to have someone qualified and fabulous on standby!
  • Timetable – Please be sure to check the timetable carefully here and don’t hesitate to contact me if you are unsure. There will be a new class for 5-year-olds at 3.45 pm on Tuesdays, then our first two classes from last year will be after that, i.e. 3.45 pm primary NEW, 4.30 pm grade 1, 5.15 pm grade 2. Last year’s grade 2’s move into grade 3 at 3.45 pm on Thursday, and I have been in touch directly with the two grade 5 classes.
  • It is important to me that you understand the philosophy of this studio, and I know most of you do which is why you’ve chosen to be here. Some keywords for me are kindness, inclusion, building confidence, poise, creativity, and most importantly JOY! Let’s not ever forget about the magic of dance. I always strive for this amongst getting students to stretch their feet!!! I have an expectation that the students too are kind, inclusive and respectful. My eldest students are a wonderful example of this. Please take a look at this excerpt from my website if you haven’t yet had a chance to read it.“Jane Pascoe Academy of Dance promotes good posture, poise, strength
and creativity. We work on helping to develop confident, kind & assured
individuals, learning skills and perseverance that can be used in any area of life.

    – Learn the technique of Classical Ballet, along with Theatre Craft and Contemporary Modern Jazz
    – Experience the magic of creative movement and make friends for life”

NB: Please bear with my website, I have a new one under construction!

Thanks for reading through this, and please don’t forget to enrol, even if you’ve been here for years! Flick me an email, text or give me a call if you have any questions at all.

Yours in Dance,

Jane

2021 Dates to put in your Calendar

Exams
There is an exam fee which differs for each grade, plus the cost of extra classes. More info to come.

Round 1 – June (dates TBC)

Round 2 – First weekend of December

Performances
Wakatu Dance Theatre Show at the Theatre Royal – 25th July – 01st August 2021.
Show Fees are $50 which is all-inclusive, covering costumes, production costs etc.

This is a big commitment and the most fabulous experience, an annual highlight for those involved!

We ‘pack in’ to the Theatre on Sunday 25 July which is the end of the school holidays. This means that your child will need to be at rehearsals in the 2nd half of the 2nd week of the holidays. If they are not there, they can’t be in the show. Please consider this when you book your winter holiday!

There are rehearsals in the Theatre on the 26th and 27th. We give all the young ones the night off on the 28th then opening night is Thursday the 29th! We do 4 public performances, 7 pm Thur, Fri, Sat, plus a matinee 1.30 pm performance on the Saturday. While it sounds like a lot, particularly for the little ones, it is carefully managed and they have the most wonderful time! We get them home to bed as early as possible I promise. Have a think about whether you’d like to do the show as we’ll be starting to learn the repertoire in term 1, it would be really useful for me to have an idea of numbers as soon as possible.

If your child is not doing the show, not a problem. They continue to come to class, enjoy learning the exciting dances and will not be excluded from anything in their normal class time.

Isel Market Performance and JPAD end of year Break-up – Thursday 16 December (TBC)

This informal, outdoor performance is held next door at the beautiful market in Isel Park. It’s a wonderful way to end our year of dance, and a chance for the children to perform for their families and the wider community
