I am passionate about sharing my energy and knowledge with students and clients across a broad spectrum of age and ability. I am delighted to now have an online platform which connects me far and wide with new people, old friends and studio students from years gone by.

My classes are fun, affordable, challenging – yet easy to follow, and are designed to transform you inside and out! You are made to feel welcome and at ease, and with creative and thoughtful sequencing no two classes are ever the same.

Classes on offer are: vinyasa flow, yin yoga, barre, pilates, SUP yoga, children’s dance, and private yoga sessions. I am also qualified to teach teen yoga and pregnancy yoga and often run these courses too.

POWER VINYASA YOGA

CREATE EASE AND GRACE IN MIND AND BODY THROUGH STRONG FOUNDATIONS, DYNAMIC MOVEMENT AND CONNECTION TO BREATHE

Vinyasa flow yoga is a dynamic form of contemporary asana movement.

This style of practice was originally closely modelled on the Ashtanga method in an attempt to make Ashtanga Yoga more safe and accessible to western students, coming to yoga later in life.

Modern day philosophy is also blended into class, nothing airy-fairy, just a gentle reminder to stay present and to take what you need from your practice.
A beautiful connection of breathe to movement is cultivated throughout the class and so many themes are explored from anatomical to seasonal, chakras to traditional Chinese medicine. It is a strong practice that develops flexibility, strength and agility and can really shift your perspective.

The practice can be varying lengths and is sealed with a short savasana (relaxation).

YIN YOGA

THE BALANCING PRACTICE FOR THE MORE YANG STYLES OF YOGA

The Yin to balance the Yang, this restorative style of yoga offers the time to go deep into your body, often holding poses for long periods with slower movements between. A beautiful practice to counter the busyness of our daily lives.
Poses are held for 3-5minutes each targeting fascial stretching and gentle joint and ligament stress. This practice focuses on releasing fascia, which is basically connective tissue that sits under our skin and wraps around all muscles, through the organs and the entire body.

This practice is great for everyone, in particular, those who are new to yoga, have injuries and postural imbalances, or bodies feeling the effects of stress, high impact and repetitive movements.

DEVELOP A LONGER, LEANER PHYSIQUE; JUST LIKE A DANCER.

YOU DON’T NEED TO BE A DANCER TO COME TO BARRE!

You don’t have to be a dancer to come to the barre!

It is a passion of mine, I took to it like a duck to water and I’d love to share it with you!

Barre class is a fun and effective workout incorporating exercises done at a ballet barre combined with elements of ballet, Pilates, and Yoga on the mat.
Set to high-energy music, Barre can help you transform your body for a healthier, leaner and more toned physique. Classes can be adapted for all fitness and experience levels.

Barre exercises rely mainly upon one’s body weight for resistance, and the moves challenge your core stability and balance. Barre workouts are designed to help achieve a “dancer’s body” — strong, sleek, and streamlined.

Barre class can be done anywhere, all you need is a yoga mat, a chair or the kitchen bench! Like Yoga and Pilates classes students have bare feet but some prefer to wear socks with grippy bottoms. The class usually goes for just under an hour and consists of a 5-10 minute warm-up, 10-15 minutes of upper bodywork, 20-30 minutes of barre exercises (mostly lower body), 10 minutes of floorwork that includes abdominals and lower body exercises. Most classes end with a cool down and final stretches. Online I teach varying lengths so you can get in a quick 10-20 minute core workout or dancer’s stretch whenever you can fit it in!

Over the last 10 years, I have taught Barre to men, women, children, elderly, injured, dance professionals and many more. BARRE IS FOR EVERYONE.

Here are a few frequently asked questions:

What should I wear for a Barre class?
Grip socks are recommended. Bare feet are fine also. Otherwise, yoga or dancewear is appropriate. Whatever you are comfortable moving in

What should I bring to a Barre class?
Bring water to stay hydrated and a mat. Everything else is provided. Online you might like to invest in a soft small ball and have some light hand weights (I use canned food from the cupboard!)

SUP YOGA

YOGA ON LIQUID: LIFE IS BETTER BY THE SEA

With a qualified Yoga teacher and board hire available SUP Yoga is accessible to anyone that is comfortable being out on the water. It is the perfect balance of challenge and chill. All levels are catered for and class numbers are capped so everyone can be attended to.

Current class times: Sunday 8.30am. Bookings essential here

If the class times don’t suit, booking your own special SUP Yoga lesson at a time that does is easy; simply get a group together and contact me to arrange a time. I’ve done work parties, hen’s do’s, birthday parties to name a few!

TEEN YOGA

DEVELOP MIND-BODY CONNECTION WHILE IMPROVING POSTURE, STRENGTH, FLEXIBILITY AND BALANCE

A great activity to counter the pressures of school, competitive sports, technologies and busy lives in general.

Some availability for contractual dance, and or yoga work in schools, early childhood and Tertiary institutes. Please enquire.

We work through a series of constantly changing poses and sequences to keep things fresh, facilitating a sense of freedom and accomplishment for students. This class is suitable for girls and boys.

PREGNANCY YOGA

FEEL STRONG, RELAXED AND MORE CONNECTED TO YOURSELF AND YOUR BABY

Through yoga postures, guided relaxation and breath awareness you will prepare the body and mind for the birth, and at the same time relieve the discomfort and stress associated with pregnancy.

These classes will leave you feeling strong, relaxed and more connected to yourself and your baby.

No Yoga experience is required and you can join the class at any stage of your pregnancy. Please consult your doctor or midwife for clearance.

Contact Jane for any upcoming courses. If no courses available Jane can cater to your needs in her open classes or run you through some private sessions so you have the tools to practice at home.

I like it how you teach to an intention or cater your class to what might be going on outside the studio at appropriate times and I think you cater really well to all levels of practice.

Hi Jane, For me what stands out is your manner, tone of voice(ie calming and exact with instructions (ie not jumbled or too many words) . How you explain the postures and how they should feel has really helped me to connect the two. I know myself and others have said how well you understand and explain the subtle changes in a posture which change the feeling of a pose. I’ve always thought that must come from your dance background.

With 20 years of training and experience behind her, Jane Pascoe is qualified to teach a range of dance styles, Ballet, Modern Jazz and Contemporary to name but a few.
Jane holds the highest teaching qualifications obtainable in dance through the
International Dance Teachers Association.

In 2010 Jane added Yoga to her teaching repertoire by completing a Power Yoga 200hr training through Power Living Australia. She has continued to advance her teaching and fuel her passion for learning by doing advanced training all over the world and is now well on her way to 1000hrs of training.

Barre came next. What she discovered was that she had been already doing this for years under the banner of ‘conditioning for dancers’. Jane was one of the first in NZ to start teaching barre and when teaching it she explains that it’s like a duck to water for her, a huge passion and a wonderfully creative outlet. Jane is currently doing a pilates instructor course and is excited about how it is already adding more depth to her existing classes in other styles.

In 2019 Jane travelled to Bali to teach Yoga on a luxury retreat, and also facilitated on women’s wellness retreats near Nelson. These were both career highlights to date as they went beyond seeing students once or twice per week. Jane loved exploring themes further and connecting with the attendees on a deeper level.

Professional development is something Jane is totally committed to. It adds to the quality of teaching that is passed onto her students.

Jane’s breadth of dance experience ranges from Pre School to adults for recreation and professional Dance Training and in 2011. She is also qualified to teach Pre Natal, Teen and Stand Up Paddle Board (SUP) Yoga, the latter being a summer highlight in beautiful Nelson!

Jane has a unique approach to teaching, with her gentle encouraging approach students in all genres students feel included and at ease.

Jane mainly teaches in Nelson, with her own dance studio located in Stoke, and daytime Yoga and Barre at cityfitness.
She also does contractual teaching work in education and classes at workplaces to name but a few.
